If you really study the market, the new mid-range phones now are the flagships of past years. But many believe it’s better to buy an older flagship than a new mid-range as it gives a better perception. Also, the fact is that prices of many flagship phones start falling within weeks of their release.

In India, Apple’s old generation iPhones remain a popular choice among consumers. Even though iPhones have remained beyond budget for most Indians, the company still manages to sell its old models in large numbers.

Apple so far has a tiny – and shrinking – share of India’s smartphone market, and has so far focused only on lower-cost models. 

Currently, the iPhone SE and the iPhone 6s are the two products of Apple that are being produced in India under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Now a new report has been emerged stating Apple had already begun the iPhone 7 production in India starting this March.

As reported by Economic Times (ET), Apple had confirmed that they had begun production of the iPhone 7 in Bangalore unit – the same facility, which manufactures the iPhone SE and the iPhone 6s. They had stated that the company has already started  production of iPhone 7 early last month. The facility in Bangalore is owned by Taiwanese manufacturer Wistron.

The report further suggests the cost of manufacturing iPhone 7 is significantly cheaper rather than importing them and also aims to encourage the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative as well. Usually, the lower manufacturing costs lead to a price drop of any device, but it is highly unlikely with the iPhone 7. 

The report suggests that the price drop is very likely not to happen due to Apple’s plans in investing in the products’ marketing play and also on the competitive sales of their product.
